Benefits to be replaced by Opportunities: What are the career opportunities for scientific tracks? Entrance exams for Grandes Écoles follow a logic of distribution. Studies in preparatory classes are very secure because all second-year students enter a Grande École, except for those who want to become teachers and naturally continue their studies at a university. Not all students, of course, obtain a place in the most prestigious schools, but life is long, and school is not the sole path to becoming an engineer. The Grandes Écoles (approximately 220) are accessible through various competitive exams. Students choose and register for the exams that best align with their ambitions and academic level in preparatory classes. The available competitive exams include:

  • The École Polytechnique (X) and Écoles Normales Supérieures (ENS Ulm, Lyon, Paris-Saclay, and Rennes) entrance exam.
  • The Mines-Ponts entrance exam (Mines de Paris, Ponts et Chaussées, SUPAERO, ENSTA, etc.).
  • The Centrale-Supélec entrance exam (Centrale Supélec, Centrale Lyon/Lille/Nantes/Marseille, Arts et Métiers, etc.).
  • The CCINP entrance exam (ENSIMAG, Phelma, MATMECA Bordeaux, ENAC, École de l'Air, Saint-Cyr, etc.).
  • The e3a-Polytech entrance exam (Polytech network).
  • The Moroccan National Common Competition (CNC) (EMI, EHTP, ENSIAS, INPT, ENSEM, etc.). Students who are not entirely satisfied with the schools they have obtained after the exams have the option to retake the exams the following year by repeating their second year. The first year is not typically repeated, except for medical reasons, but the overwhelming majority of first-year students progress to the second year.
